NBCUniversal Employees Celebrate FIFA Women’s World Cup and Big Ten Day Across Offices Globally
August 29, 2023
Throughout the past month, NBCUniversal offices across the globe have been celebrating the FIFA Women’s World Cup and helped us kick off the inaugural Big Ten Day.
Since the FIFA Women’s World Cup Kickoff in July, employees have been actively celebrating the games across the globe. As the games played out for fans everywhere, hundreds of employees joined watch parties, wore their favorite team jerseys and shared their predictions of who the ultimate winner of the games would be.
FIFA Women’s World Cup
Upon entering NBCUniversal offices from New York to London, employees were greeted throughout the month with daily digital screens displaying match schedules and custom “how to watch” graphics.
Employees based in London came together in the Central St Giles Skyline for a thrilling England vs. China watch party made complete with local foods of the participating Women’s World Cup teams. The watch party was sponsored by employee led resource groups (ERGs).
Although the celebrations have come to an end, the Women’s World Cup brought not only fans together, but our employees as well. This year, the games resulted in historic ratings wins with more than 1.4 billion minutes consumed across Telemundo, NBCUniverso, TeleXistos, Peacock and One-App.
Inaugural Big Ten Day
In anticipation of the first B1G Ten kickoff game on September 2nd, NBCUniversal employees took their fandom to new levels to help us celebrate the inaugural B1G Ten Day on August 10. Locations encouraged employees to wear their favorite college gear, cafeterias featured specials from various B1G Ten college campuses and employees were entered to win B1G Ten swag by sharing their best “fan” looks.
On B1G Ten day, the company also hosted integrations across NBC Sports, NBC News, NBC Entertainment and Universal Parks – all leveraging the excitement of the games.
Team mascots from Big Ten schools, University of Maryland, Rutgers University and Ohio State kicked off the day taking over the plaza on TODAY show followed by greeting employees in the hallways of 30 Rock.
Employees from all over the globe submitted photos in their best sports attire for a chance to win a special giveaway with B1G Ten swag. More than 5,000 Big Ten Saturday Night pennants were given away to help promote the excitement around Big Ten on Peacock.
NBC Sports, which kicks off its Big Ten football coverage on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, Sept. 2, joins the Big Ten Conference and its media partners in looking ahead to the kickoff of the 2023 college football season.
