Telemundo’s 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards Delivers More Than 82 Million Engagements Across Television, Digital And Social Platforms

Last Thursday’s broadcast of Telemundo’s 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards dominated primetime delivering more than 82 million engagements across television, digital and social platforms, +131% higher than 2022 and the highest engagement for any entertainment special in Telemundo’s history.
On linear, the show reached a cumulative audience of 2.6M total viewers, including 916,000 Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. Delivering 499,000 adults 18-49 and 200,000 adults 18-34, the show drove the network to #1 in Spanish-language television, and the #2 broadcast network, regardless of language, in both demos in the 8-11pm timeslot. The longest-running and most prestigious awards show in Latin music aired live from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, FL and featured 16 electrifying performances including worldwide debuts, special collaborations and emotional tributes.
Across digital and social, the show delivered 74.3 million views across all on-domain platforms, Peacock, social accounts, and YouTube, representing a triple-digit growth of +150% increase versus 2022. On social, the show ranked as the #1 program across all of television based on 3.1 million total interactions and 3 million video views across Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube, according to Talkwalker. The show also delivered triple-digit growth across digital and social platforms with a +282% increase in social engagements when compared to 2022, with 5.1 million total interactions for the exclusive digital coverage across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and YouTube. Additionally, the event's prominence on X was evident as #Billboards2023 emerged as a top trending topic in music entertainment.
In a first for the show, a special collaboration with superstars Marc Anthony and Pepe Aguilar presented a linear and digital takeover with their worldwide premiere of “Ojalá Te Duela”, airing and streaming their live performance simultaneously across Telemundo’s accounts on Instagram and Facebook, as well as both artists’ accounts. The digital stunt reached 290,000 fans and delivered 13,700 interactions.
Locally, the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards ranked as the #1 primetime program, regardless of language, among adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, San Francisco, Orlando and Philadelphia. In addition, the show ranked #1 in Spanish-language television in Tampa, Washington, D.C. and Boston in the demo.
Peso Pluma led the night with eight wins, followed by Bad Bunny with seven awards, Karol G with five and Eslabon Armando with four wins. During the night, hosted by international superstars Jacqueline Bracamontes and Danilo Carrera, more than 55 artists took the stage to present the awards and deliver 16 electrifying performances, including a medley by global superstar Bad Bunny of his greatest hits (“Moscow Mule,” Titi Me Preguntó,” “Neverita”) and the premiere of “Where She Goes;” the worldwide premiere of “Ojala Te Duela” by Marc Anthony and Pepe Aguilar; the television premiere of Justin Quiles and El Alfa’s summer hit “Fiesta Loca;” and a tribute to Jenni Rivera by her daughter Chiquis, Calibre 50 and Banda Los Sebastianes with “Basta Ya,” “Inolvidable,” and “Ya Lo Sé,” among others. Some of the most memorable moments of the evening were the special awards presented, including the Billboard Icon Award to Ivy Queen, the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award to Karol G, the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award to Los Ángeles Azules.
